Spring can be a bit chaotic in the education world. Here are some friendly reminders to help keep our busy kids on track. 1. Check student grades often on the Synergy ParentVue app. Consistent reminders from parents helps keep them focused on completing work and turning it in. 2. It's standardized testing season. Encourage students to make their best effort! 3. Spring sports come with spring weather. The main calendar on our website presents in real time, so when changes are made, that is your best bet for accurate information. 4. MS/HS - Summer school begins the Tuesday after school gets out. Letters to parents will be sent out early and mid May. 5. Elementary summer school student letters will be sent late May or early June. 6. Review school behavior expectations with your kids: Be Safe - Be Responsible - Be Respectful. 7. Ensure your child gets a good night's sleep. Many students, when asked why they are so tired, report being on their phones late into the night and into the early morning. 8. We are excited to begin a new summer reading and math challenge for K-8 students! Watch for letters and communications about the program over the next few weeks.

April 9, 2023 Dear Bobcat Fans: We continue to need your help with positive fan sportsmanship. We have made efforts over the past several years to communicate the importance of sportsmanship in athletics to all involved. Referees and umpires are already hard to come by. We must accept all calls by referees as they make them and allow coaches to follow the proper format for questioning a decision. Your only job as a spectator/parent is to provide positive commentary to our young athletes. In an effort to be transparent with our stakeholders here at Burr Oak Community Schools, it is our duty to continue to inform you that the South Central Athletic Association (SCAA) put BOCS on probation in regard to athletics for the entire 23/24 school year. As a community school and a member of MHSAA, we must continue to show good sportsmanship at all sporting events, or risk being eliminated from the SCAA. We are under contract with MHSAA to enforce their sportsmanship expectations. Please be reminded, for the 23/24 athletic seasons, unsportsmanlike conduct by parents/fans will result in being removed from all athletic contests for the entire school year. This includes both home and away games. There will be no do overs or second chances. If you plan on coming to games to see kids play in person, plan on positive commentary only. We have the same expectations of our athletes and coaches who are held accountable by MHSAA policies and procedure. It is our sincere hope that all stakeholders can be part of the solution this upcoming school year and beyond. Being part of the SCAA provides opportunities for our athletes that they will not have if we are voted out of the league by the other member schools. We appreciate your efforts to do better and thank those of you who are always positive in promoting our student athletes at competitions.
