There was a mistake printed in the August Oak Opening. It states that the first day of school is August 21st this is NOT the first day of school for students. The first day for students is Tuesday August 20th. Sorry for any confusion.

July 29, 2019 Welcome Back! You are receiving this letter, either because you have a new student enrolled in the Burr Oak Community Schools’ system or your student is entering Middle School (5th Grade). I want to begin by welcoming you to Burr Oak Middle/High School (MS/HS). In addition to a warm welcome, I want to inform you that Burr Oak MS/HS is a One-to-One (1:1) digital campus. What does that mean? It means that all of our students and teachers in grades 5-12 have their own District provided Chromebook. The Chromebook will be issued to the student in 5th grade (or when enrolling in Burr Oak Schools in any grade above 5th grade) and will remain the property of that student until he/she either graduates from Burr Oak or leaves the District. As a requirement for receiving a Chromebook, EVERY student and parent must attend an orientation session at the school. The session will cover general information about the Chromebook, policies that apply to the use and care of the Chromebook and paperwork that needs to be signed by both student and parent upon receiving the Chromebook. This year’s orientation meeting will be in the school library on August 8, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. High School students will be allowed to take their Chromebook home with them at this time but Middle School Chromebooks remain at the school at all times. If you cannot attend this session you will need to make arrangements with the school to attend a session at a mutually agreed upon time. If you have any conflicts or questions please feel free to contact me at the school at 269-489-5534 Ext 319 or by email at tgreene@burroakcs.org Thank you Terry Greene Technology Coordinator
