Welcome back to the second half of the 23/24 school year!
Please review the information below.
Behavior Expectations - Parents as Partners in Education
When it comes to student behaviors, our school rules can be summarized into the following statements: Be Safe - Be Respectful - Be Responsible
Using the same statements at home can be helpful in promoting positive behavior at school.
Cold Weather Guidelines
Getting outside in every season is healthy for kids. Please be reminded that our students will be expected to go outside based on our temperature guidelines, so please make sure that they are sent to school with clothing that is weather appropriate.
Parentvue App
As parents/guardians, you have access to many student records, including grades and attendance, in real time, which allows you to monitor their academic progress. If you have not already done so, please contact Mr. Greene to get started. tgreene@burroakcs.org
Student Absences
Remember to call the main office at 489-2213, ext. 207 when your child is going to be absent. Please refer to the handbook for more information on attendance policies.
Testing Information
Our mid-year NWEA benchmark testing begins January 9, 2024 and will continue through January 16, 2024. Test prep for all students will continue to take place every Wednesday and is part of our school improvement plan. Please help students prepare for the future and remain positive about testing.
Sportsmanship
We have the continued expectation of good sportsmanship by all people in attendance at any sporting event, both home and away. Please continue to let the coaches coach, the referees ref, and the student-athletes play. If you are not happy with the job the referees are doing, please apply to become a referee at: New Officials Information | Michigan High School Athletic Association.
Pick Up and Drop Off
Please help keep our students SAFE by following the pick up and drop off procedures according to the map. School doors open and supervision of students starts at 7:30.

Due to a power outage, Burr Oak Schools will be on a two hour delay today, December 20, 2023.

Re: Positive Sportsmanship
From: Mrs. Owens and Mr. Vandosen
We would like to thank our fans who have been attending Burr Oak athletic competitions for their good sportsmanship so far this year. The genuine effort to show positivity does not go unnoticed!
We have some very competitive games coming up and expect that your continued effort will carry through the school year. We maintain and support the the following:
Let the coaches coach
Let the referees ref
Let the players play
Being a member of MHSAA and the South Central Athletic Association comes with the responsibility of ensuring good sportsmanship. Yelling angrily at refs, coaches, and players is not going to change the outcome of a game, but being positive and cheering them on might make a difference.
Thank you for your effort toward improving sportsmanship in our district.
